United Overseas Bank Limited (UOB Singapore) is a multinational banking organisation headquartered in Singapore with branches located in most of Southeast Asia.
Founded in 1935 as United Chinese Bank (UCB) by a businessman from Sarawak (present state of Malaysia) Wee Kheng Chiang along with a group of businessmen originally from China.
UOB provides commercial and corporate banking, personal financial services, private banking, asset management services, as well as corporate finance, venture capital, investment, and insurance services.
Most of the bank’s operations are concentrated mainly in Southeast Asian countries such as Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
UOB is the third-largest bank in Southeast Asia in terms of total assets.
