Bayerische Landesbank (BayernLB) is a public regional bank in Germany, the central institution for the Bavarian savings banks, headquartered in Munich.
BayernLB has been established by the State Law of 27 June 1972, the merger of Bayerische community bank – has regulated and state Bavarian Landesbodenkreditanstalt – Girozentrale.
With consolidated total assets of 287 billion euros (2012), the Bayerische Landesbank one of the largest banks in Germany and behind the Landesbank Baden-Württemberg, the country’s second-largest bank in Germany. It has a capital of 15.168 billion euros, is part of the Savings Banks Finance Group and is a member of the German Savings Banks Association.
The sole owners of the bank since September 9, 2002, BayernLB Holding AG. Indirect owners of this holding, the Free State of Bavaria and the Savings Banks Association of Bavaria. Bavaria was in December 2008, indirectly, with about 94% of the majority owner of the bank.
BayernLB is represented in Germany in addition to its headquarters in Munich with a branch in Nuremberg and sales offices in Dusseldorf and Essen.
