The presence of the Alpha Bank in Cyprus began in 1998 with the acquisition of Lombard Natwest Bank which was renamed Alpha Bank Limited and later in Alpha Bank Cyprus Ltd. The Alpha Bank Cyprus Ltd is a company of Alpha Bank Group with a stake of 100%.
From October 1998 the Bank was active in Cyprus, the figures have increased significantly, indicating perhaps the most successful expansion of Alpha Bank abroad and making Alpha Bank Cyprus Ltd as a model for the development of the Group into new markets, mainly in Southeastern Europe. Over the years, the Alpha Bank Cyprus flourished and managed to consolidate its presence and to assert the position of the third-largest bank in the country.

According to figures of world-famous Financial Rating Agencies (Moody’s, Standard & Poor’s), Alpha Bank has over time maintained at high levels of scoring for both its economic strength and for domestic and international deposits as reserves.
In 2004 the Alpha Bank A.E. included in the index FTSE Eurotop 300, which includes the 300 largest blue-chip companies in Europe. The Alpha Bank is ahead of all Greek companies included in the relevant index.
According to the Reuters and Bloomberg research, the Department of Market Analysis and Treasury of Alpha Bank, consistently ranked in the highest position by a large number of banks in Europe, America, and Japan, for accuracy in forecasts relating to the exchange parities.
