BNP Paribas Fortis

BNP Paribas Fortis is the Belgian branch of the BNP Paribas group. The bank received its name after the acquisition in April 2009 of a 75% stake in Fortis Bank. BNP Paribas, which was created as a result of the merger of Banque Nationale de Paris (BNP) and Paribas in 2000, is a fully French bank, as well as one of the largest in the world. In terms of assets, BNP Paribas is the third-largest in the world.
